You might be wondering how does “An Attitude of Gratitude” connect with networking.

I recently had the pleasure of attending an Awards Luncheon. The invitation listed 11:00 am as the start time. I arrived on time and easily found a parking space. Score!

At check in, I was told doors open at 11:30 am.

I had two choices.

I could choose “Grrrhh, and be a Grouchy Grinch. I can’t believe they said the event starts at 11 when it realty starts at 11:30. Why are they wasting my time? I can’t believe they asked me to arrive early!!! Arrgghhh!!!”

Or, I could choose “An Attitude of Gratitude.”

I chose An Attitude of Gratitude.

In that 30 minutes,
• I connected with a handful of women I hadn’t seen in a long time.
• I had several meaningful conversations including one with a friend who met Grouchy Grinch. Thank you for the inspiration for this article.
• I received an in person reply to an email and commitment to work together.
• I had my photo taken with the award recipient.
• I made new connections.

That 30 minutes was an opportunity, an opportunity for me to connect to others with confidence, and time well spent.

Networking opportunities are everywhere.
