Following Up sounds simple, yet, how often do we remember to do it?
You had a great time at the event, met some very fun people and came home with a handful of business cards.
It’s office cleaning day and you find a stack of cards. You don’t remember if you followed up or not.
You recently attended 3 events, made several connections, know you should follow up, but do not remember who’s who.
Following Up is simple, yet can feel overwhelming or daunting. You’re busy. You feel stressed. It’s the holidays and you have lots to do.
Here are six tips that can help ease the pain and help make following up become a routine part of your marketing strategy.
1) Schedule time to follow up.
2) Following up can be a simple 2 to 3-line email or a short phone call.
3) Do what you said you were going to do. Send the link to the article.
4) Write notes on the cards you collect. “Send Lisa’s phone number.” Met at XYZ event.
5) Own your Oops. Better late than never. Hi Lisa, it was nice to meet you at West Valley Women. I am so sorry I am late in getting back to you. Name of Book is the one I recommended. Sally is a fabulous author.
6) Remember following up is the next part of the conversation.
Following Up can help you grow your business. It gives prospective clients an opportunity to get to know you, like you and trust you. When they do that, they are likely to buy from you.
